McKesson Taking Care of Our Own Fund

Sometimes, things happen that you can’t plan for, whether it’s a hurricane or a house fire. Learn how you can get help through a grant from the employee relief fund—or how you can donate to help others.
The Taking Care of Our Own Fund is administered by the Emergency Assistance Foundation, Inc. (EAF). EAF manages all fund activities, and when needed assists applicants with their grant applications. McKesson Foundation employees do not have insight or influence into the grant approval process.

Apply for a Grant

If you are experiencing a personal hardship or the effects of a Qualified Disaster, you can apply for a grant for financial assistance. Please read the Application FAQs to see if you qualify.

At McKesson, we care about our people—when you’re at work, at home or anywhere in between. And we know that life can sometimes take you by surprise, whether it’s a natural disaster or a family emergency.

That’s why we sponsor the employee relief fund. It’s a way for our people to get (and give) help during difficult times. It’s how we take care of our own. Read our FAQs (PDF, 350 KB) for more information.

How and when to apply for a grant

If you find yourself dealing with an unexpected emergency, you can apply for a grant from the McKesson Taking Care of Our Own Fund. The fund offers two types of grants: the Get You to Safety Grant and the We Care Grant. Both are administered by the Emergency Assistance Foundation. If you apply for a grant through the Taking Care of Our Own Fund site, EAF's privacy policy applies.

We Care Grant

Depending on your situation, the fund provides grants up to $5,000 to cover basic costs after a personal hardship or government-declared disaster. Knowing these situations are time-sensitive, EAF will process your application as quickly as possible - typically in 3-5 business days if all required documentation is provided. If approved, you should receive payment within 2 weeks.

Because it’s a grant – not a loan – you never have to pay the grant back. But to make sure the fund can help those who need it most, income guidelines apply. Read the FAQs (PDF, 350 KB) to find out if you qualify. If this grant feels like what you need, here’s what to do:

Get You to Safety Grant

Have you been evacuated from your home due to a FEMA or government declared disaster? The fund provides up to $1,000 evacuation assistance grants for qualified McKesson employees who have been evacuated, displaced or stranded by a government-declared disaster.

There are no income requirements for this grant. To be eligible, you need to be a McKesson employee who works 20 or more hours per week.
